An online guide and resource on how to be a mindful consumer.

AWAREHOUSE is the product of asking the question, "How might we inspire, encourage, promote, and inform others about mindful consumption?" After a year of conducting research and developing a solution, I designed an online resource that gives insight into the mindful consumer mindset. The site shows users how to reflect on one's needs, wants, and values, and how that can positively influence what one consumes. With a directory of sample products and actions, I created flowcharts to break down the process into practical steps.

The time restraints of this project were affected by COVID-19. Initially, the 2020 Graphic Design Senior Capstone Exhibition would have occurred in-person on April 22. However, due to the safety precautions implemented because of the virus, the exhibition went digital. The exhibition date remained the same, leaving about a month to revise my original installation concept and produce it in a digital medium.

What is Mindful Consumption?

Mindful consumption is a practice, mindset, and attitude of being intentional when making a purchase. Mindful consumers are deliberate in how they shop and conscientious of how these things would affect their lives. This decision-making process will vary based on a person's respective needs and values.

I produced this three-minute video that covers my research on the topic.
